“Always-On” Data Monitoring Helps Businesses Overcome Fraud
CASWA Asset Management Devices Combined with Multi-Network Connectivity from Pod Group Prevent Fraud and Increase Profitability
CTIA Super Mobility, Las Vegas – Pod Group, the expert in multi-network data SIMs for the IoT and M2M industries and CASWA, an Australian company that specializes in developing new technological solutions for engineering asset management, have today announced an agreement to provide global systems for data logging, collation and analysis to combat fraud and asset misappropriations.
According to the latest report* from the ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners), asset misappropriation and misuse is one of the most common types of occupational fraud, particularly in the manufacturing industry, and can cost businesses dearly with a median loss of $130,000 a year. In addition, the report states that monitoring and proactively analyzing data significantly reduces the cost and duration of fraud, but was used by only 35% of the organizations in the study.
CASWA develops products to ensure that all asset use is attributed to an operator, unqualified and unauthorized operators can’t start equipment, and equipment utilization is recorded in real time. As such, they are not only an effective way to combat fraud, they also help to increase longevity of equipment, promote efficiency of use of any powered installation and stimulate a culture of accountability among employees, thus improving business profitability.
The devices are designed for use globally and can be fitted to all types of machinery and electronic devices to send real-time data back to a centralized platform so that activity can be monitored at all times. One of the main reasons for using multi-network SIMs from Pod Group in the devices is the expansion of CASWA’s business to countries outside Australia, and the remote location of some of the devices, which require continuous access to the mobile network.
Paul Kelly, founder and director of CASWA commented; “When our export business began to take off we needed the flexibility to switch carriers on the fly to meet the requirements of each location, including remote areas where the mainstream carriers simply have no footprint. Pod Group make their own SIM cards and provision them to whatever set of networks we need, we just grab a SIM from the box, put it in the product, and ship it anywhere.”
Pod Group provides “Best Signal” multi-network SIM cards with no steering. This makes them ideal for remote applications which need to connect to the network with the strongest signal wherever they are. If the signal is lost as devices move, the SIMs automatically connect to the next available network.
Pod Group CEO Sam Colley said, “Because we manufacture and program our own SIMs including a constantly expanding range of networks globally, we can offer flexible packages that can be customized to suit the needs of our customers’ applications. These flexible packages combined with our global coverage make it easy for companies such as CASWA who are expanding internationally to quickly open new markets.”
Group MD of Pod Group Charles Towers-Clark added, “Our experience working with remote and mission critical applications has led us to design specific solutions for these very challenging markets. The mission critical side of CASWA´s solution is clear; the ability to continuously monitor the use of an organization’s assets significantly increases efficiency and prevents loss of money through fraud. The fact that the devices are also deployed in remote locations, makes the global multi-network capability and the control over the connectivity of the SIM even more important.”
